Mato is full of personality. She is kennel trained and house broken. She does well with most other dogs and cats she like to play chase them but at 8 lbs there is not much else she can do. She is house broken and does not chew on things she is not suppose to. She does have a disorder called Hypo-/dysmyelinogenesis (tremors) most of the time they grow out of it by about 1 1/2. This does not bother her and there is no medication for it. She only has episodes when she gets REALLY excited. She is looking for a foster or forever home. Mato is a Schipperke and is about 10 months old.

A volunteer writes: Handsome Harlem is impossible to miss in his kennel. He coloring is so unusual and his eyes so dancing that I simply couldn’t resist him. Harlem looks like he is wearing the newest fashion - a camouflage coat!! His coat is shining and healthy looking, his tail wags as we go out the door. He ‘goes’ immediately so may be housetrained, but is a puppy so may need a refresher course. Harlem has wonderful puppy energy - he would love to be out for a run, chasing a ball anything that is physical. He has that playful puppy stuff going on and I wished I could have just let him run! Harlem came up into my lap for hugs and kisses but at this stage in his life is more interested in playing. Needless to say he attracted alot of attention during our walk - between his unusual coloring and his friendly outgoing personality people are drawn to him - as I was. And, as we hope you will be too. This energetic boy is looking for an active household, one in which he will thrive with plenty of exercise, and training to help him develop into the rock star dog he will be.
Formal behavior evaluation: “Experienced/no children: Harlem was excited and mouthy during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. He was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Harlem did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. He was easy to handle when chewing on rawhides, but was not interested in toys. Harlem was relaxed when approaching a friendly dog, but was not playful.

“On August 6th, the House of Delegates of the ABA [American Bar Association] passed a resolution that calls for breed-neutral dangerous dog laws that focus on the behavior of dog owners and their pets rather than breed, breed types, or breed appearance as basis for laws intended to protect the public from dangerous dogs.”
The dog pictured is Yuma, an adoptable American Pit Bull Terrier/Boxer mix.

With the tagline “spay & neuter saves lives,” the goal of the California Pet Lover’s license plate is to fund low-cost spay/neuter surgeries across the state, focusing on areas that have high intake and kill rates and where people are the most financially disadvantaged.
Californians need to pre-order the license plates ($50 for standard plates and $98 for specialized plates), and when 7,500 license plates are ordered, they will go into production. Californians have a year to take advantage of helping to get this amazing opportunity off the ground to not just fund spay/neuter, and in turn reduce shelter deaths, but also spread awareness about the importance of fixing your pet.
As of As of July 13, 2012: 5,523 pre-order spots have been filled.
